The communal spaces are solidly built, with attractive palm-thatched ceilings. The open-sided frontage overlooks the beach and gardens. Island lifestyle is evident in the decor – the walls are whitewashed, the fabrics are blue and the artwork is local. You can kick back in the spacious and breezy lounge, and enjoy excellent meals undercover, with garden views, or on the beach. There's a quaint library, spa, curio shop, small swimming pool and beckoning beachfront bar.
There's accommodation to suit every need at Benguerra Island Lodge – from the three-bedroomed Casa Familia to smaller Casinha suites and enchanting beachfront Cabanas. The size may vary, but the luxury is identical. Enjoy great service, pristine views, comfortable furniture both indoors and out, a mini bar, a coffee station and a private plunge pool. Each extravagant en-suite bathroom has both indoor and outdoor showers and a large, glamorous tub for relaxing soaks.
You're here primarily to relax, whether that be on the beach, cocktail in hand, at the in-house spa or wallowing in the shallows. However, should you feel like a little more adventure, there's lots to do. Beach- and water-based activities include scuba diving, picnics on a sea-surrounded sand bar (quite safe, rest assured), helicopter flights, deep-sea catch-and-release fishing, horse riding, cruises on a traditional dhow, kayaking and much much more.
Chilling-out in the dhow that has come to rest on the beach. Watch the sun go down, enjoy an ice-cold something, or settle down with a good book… That’s what we call a holiday!
There’s a variety of different rooms, but all come complete with a private plunge pool so the choice really is all yours… Oh, and make sure to order the calamari whenever it appears.
