If you’re all about the outdoors, and experiencing a destination and culture with intrepid hikes and off-the-beaten-path adventures, look no further - and we mean it. Explora is THE ultimate HQ for adventurers and explorers alike! Located semi-remotely next to the traditional village of Urquillos in the Sacred Valley, the hotel is devoted to providing rewarding explorations away from the tourist crowds - and without missing any of the landmarks. With amazing architecture, stunning views of Inca terraces as well as top-quality cuisine and amenities, this full-service hotel will make you wish you had just one more day of exploring.
During the restoration process of the former colonial house, Incan walls were discovered and rescued to form part of the architecture. Designed in line with the surroundings, the floors and walkways blend perfectly with the corn- and quinoa-terraced fields and the Vilcabamba mountain range in the background. The spectacular cuisine, developed by famous chef Virgilio Martínez, is a homage to Andean biodiversity while the onsite spa and swimming pool are heaven for sore muscles.
The hotel has 44 rooms and 6 suites, all thoughtfully designed in wood and with a light, airy feel. King-sized beds, high ceilings and tons of natural light flood through the panoramic windows, showcasing the breathtaking views, and furnishings are natural and simplistic whilst also practical and elegant. Pops of colour are added through bright chairs, pillows and bedskirts, and the bathrooms are ample with separate sinks and shower spaces. And, you can expect a side of chocolate delivered every evening with turndown.
The hotel is all about crafting experiences that immerse every guest into the culture of the area. Every evening, assisted by one of Explora’s passionate and highly-certified guides, you'll choose what your next day will look like, from a variety of options and taking into consideration your ability, experience and preferences. With over 40 explorations, there’s something in store for everyone, including biking and overland experiences to high mountain treks and walks and, of course, Machu Picchu.
The guides are jam-packed with knowledge and very professionally trained. They’ll make you feel safe and taken care of 100% of the time - and that makes a difference when you’re out hiking at 4,000+ metres!
Forgot a fleece jacket for your full-day hike? Worry not! There’s a well-stocked shop with everything and anything you might need for your outdoor adventures.
As encouragement for guests to disconnect, there are no TVs in the rooms and WiFi is only available in common areas, so don’t count on Netflix & chilling from the comfort of your own bed.
The Time + Tide Foundation is dedicated to preserving natural environments and supporting nearby communities, and guests contribute to sustainability purely by visiting their hotels. The foundation focuses on community and school-based learning, female empowerment, health, and wildlife conservation. Through initiatives like student sponsorship, it aims to ensure the long-term prosperity of wildlife economies and foster positive social change in Time + Tide communities.
A contribution of $10 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.
