Amy Foundation
Empowering women is one of the most powerful ways to uplift entire communities. That's why we support organisations across Africa that help women and girls access education, build livelihoods, and create futures that they choose for themselves.
Operating in a number of countries across Africa, the organisation works to provide schooling and resources for girls and young women in some of the most disadvantaged communities. While CAMFED has three core projects (education, women in agriculture and guiding), we will be supporting the education program.Â
CAMFED works in over 6 787 schools across Africa and the funds from Timbuktu will be used towards uniforms and fees. For instance, raising $5000 means 250 girls will attend primary school for a year.
With our headquarters in Cape Town in South Africa, we understand the importance of equipping young people with practical tools for the future. We support programmes that focus on life skills, mentorship, and career readiness, both during school years and beyond.
We decided to partner with the Amy Foundation, which does just that in some of the most vulnerable communities in the greater Cape Town area. This incredible organisation was established to assist young people between the age of 5 and 35, through their After School, Youth Skills Development (YSD) and Entrepreneurship Programmes. The YSD programmes include various vocational training including sewing and design, hospitality and handyman skills.
On a daily basis, the Amy Foundation supports 1,300 children at a variety of after-school centres, where they can take part in everything from lessons in traditional dance and art to assistance with their homework. The money given by Timbuktu will go towards their After School Programme, where it will be used to fund 15 children for an entire year. This will include needs like food, resources, transport and facilitation fees.
Conservation starts with community. We work with projects that engage and educate the people who live closest to wildlife, giving them the knowledge and opportunities to protect the ecosystems they call home.
We believe that an understanding and passion for conservation, sustainable tourism and environmentally-healthy living begins in childhood. This is the driving force behind iLearnabout, a comprehensive, engaging and adaptable after-school program that educates children on these topics and much more.
Designed to work alongside the existing curriculum in Zambia and Kenya, iLearnabout provides teachers with free digital resources, aimed to develop understanding and encourage action at a young age. Being digital, the program is cost-effective, easily accessible and can be used offline. Funding from Timbuktu will go towards training teachers, and sponsoring the software and equipment for a school to implement the iLearnabout program.
It goes without saying that every child deserves a safe environment and access to quality education. We support initiatives that provide school resources, nutrition, and safe spaces for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

Blue Dragon finds children and young people in crisis situations: slavery, homelessness, and extreme poverty. We rescue people from danger, then work with them for the long-term so they can heal from trauma, injustice and disadvantage. All that we learn on the frontline is used in our advocacy to improve laws and policies protecting the vulnerable.
From reforestation and rewilding to marine protection, we back initiatives that focus on restoring and preserving our planet's wild spaces. Locally driven and long-term, these projects ensure that both people and nature can thrive for many more generations.
Rewilding Chile works to counteract climate chaos and the species extinction crisis, acting to protect the beauty and health of the planet. Rewilding is their holistic strategy to conserve the Route of Parks of Patagonia through the creation of National Parks and marine parks, the restoration of ecosystems, the active management of threatened species, and the promotion of wellbeing among local communities, in addition to activism and public education that fosters a culture of conservation.
Their vision is to promote a healthy planet with complete ecosystems where all life forms thrive and communities develop in harmony with nature.
